Laura Morrison: Mixed-Media Memory & Commentary

LAURA MORRISON: Mixed-Media Memory and Commentary ran September 14 and run through November 10, 2007. The mixed-media artwork of Laura Morrison tackles topics as diverse as Prejudice, Feminism, Climate Change, Suburban Sprawl, Motherhood and Plastic Surgery. Her mixed-media assemblage Spill deals with her eldest son leaving home, “I need to release him into a new world. Emotion spills over me and I suffer the loss as he sheds his childhood and grows into a man. I've sown the seeds into the garden. Now I wait to see them grow.”

spillLaura has a BA of Fine Arts from University of Illinois and worked as a graphic designer in Chicago.  Since Laura moved to Concord, NH ten years ago with her family she has focused more intently on her art.  She has exhibited extensively and recently completed a public art commission for the New Hampshire Council on the Arts Percent for Art Program at the New Hampshire Technical Institute’s Dental Lab and Building in Concord.  She is Northeast Regional VP for the National Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA) and former president of Women’s Caucus for Art, New Hampshire Chapter.
